As the leaves start to fall and Autumn sets in, one might think that the gardening season is over, but now is the time you can be most creative and reap the benefits come spring. Here are the 9 best gardening tips for Fall.

1. Start with evaluating what you enjoyed about your garden this year and what may not have worked.  Take notes and pictures, and make a plan for what you would like to change and what you would like to ad.

2. Transplant and/or divide the plants you wish to move.

3. Now is the ideal time to plant trees, shrubs and perennials. As long as the weather cooperates planting can happen as late as December.

4. This is also the best time for bulb planting. Get them in the ground now as they need the cold of winter to flower in the spring

5. Cut back perennials that are in need but leave those with winter interest and with seed heads to feed wildlife

6. Mulch! Turn those leaves into amazing mulch by adding them to your beds or by creating a compost pile to use later.

7. Plant a cover crop in the veggie garden to dig in later to enrichen the soil.

8. Weed, weed, weed. I love it when I have the time to weed in the fall, it feels like I got a head start of spring

9. Don’t forget to Clean & oil your tools & store them out of the weather
